Samsung Galaxy S II Hits 1m Units and Sets Record in Korea

It looks like Samsung has set a record for the smartest selling smartphone in Korea with its latest Galaxy S II device. In just the first month, the company already managed to hit a record of one million units sold which is roughly about one unit of its dual-core Android gadget sold every three seconds. In comparison, the phone’s predecessor, the Galaxy S, took 70 days to reach the same tally.
When the phone was first launched in the country in late April, it reached the 100,000th mark in just three days before doubling the figure in eight days and passing the half-millionth mark in 2 weeks. According to the company, the success of its device is purely because of the hardware used such as the improved 4.3” Super AMOLED Plus display, a very slim design and a newer version of its TouchWiz feature.
This might just be one of the most successful smartphones by the company. It is expected that 10 million units of the Galaxy S II will be sold by the end of this year, but who knows, if history repeats itself in other countries, particularly in the U.S. where it’ll be available for all major American carriers, it might just surpass that number and reach 11 or 12 million units.
