It’s only been about three months since Mozilla Firefox 4 made its way to the market, now, Firefox 5 is available for download on your desktop and Android devices. Such quick release of this new version of the browser is part of the company’s new rapid release development cycle that will do things in much the same way as what Google is doing with its Chrome browser – to make things faster and to give more interactive updates. Mozilla also hopes to release Firefox 7 by the end of this year, which has only less than half a year to go.
So what’s changed this time round? Nothing much actually, Firefox 5 looks identical to its previous version, but it comes with some new bug fix, improved performance and some additional code touches. Some of the changes include:
- - Support for CSS animations
- - Better visibility for the Do-Not-Track header preference
- - Improved canvas and JavaScript support
- - Better standards support for canvas, HTML5, XHR, MathML and SMIL
- - Better tuned HTTP idle connection logic.
On top of those changes, much like what Google has done to Chrome (again), Mozilla now allows users to choose whether they wish to take part in their beta and testing process. Have you updated your Firefox yet? If so, how are you liking those changes so far?
