Yes 4G have finally released their postpaid plans that boast unlimited
data starting at RM48 per month. Here's the catch though, when they say
unlimited, Yes means that there will be no surprise charges aside from
your subscription fee per month, but you will have a data cap which
after you exceed it, your connection will be throttled. There is no
indication on the site to what speed your connection will be throttled
to, but if its anything like DiGi, then you're looking at Edge speeds.
Let's hope that since they are promising speeds 10x faster than 3G, they
will throttle to something halfway decent like 1Mbps.
The plans and pricing are shown in the image above and differ oh so
slightly from the existing Valuepack system that they have in place.
Unlike said value packs, you will not be able to carry forward unused
data to the next month and just forgo them completely. Also if you are
coming from a Valuepack, you will lose all accumulated data, minutes and
SMS' that you have on your account.
For a 12 month contract, you'll be able to get a Yes GO USB dongle and a
24 month contract will get you a Huddle MiFi or a Zoom home router. For
the huddle and Zoom, you'll need to pay RM399 upfront, but it will be
rebated to you across 20 months.
