Nevertheless, we have managed to source out couple of initial details
about the device. According to our trusted sources, the new smartphone
is designed by Yes themselves with the help of an established
Chinese-based manufacturer. As mentioned many months ago, the device
will indeed support both Yes 4G WiMAX and standard GSM network in which
users are able to switch around rather easily. In addition to that, the
device runs on Android 2.2 Froyo for the time being but at the same
time, our source have also mentioned that Yes are already working to
provide the smartphone with Android 2.3 Gingerbread update very soon.
Internally, the smartphone is powered by a single-core processor and is
also equipped with unknown amount of RAM and internal storage with
support for microSD card. Not to forget, it also comes with two cameras -
one of them is a front-facing camera for video calls, of course - but
we were told not to put any high expectations on them.
No pricing was mentioned to us but in our humble opinions, the device
shouldn’t be priced at more than RM 1,000 either by itself or bundled
together with any of Yes plans. Well, stay tuned for more as we will
bring you the official details of the device from the launch event later
this week.
