Hong Leong Bank launches iPhone app; offers PEx service

Don't you just hate how much of a hassle transferring money can be? OK, who are we kidding. Transferring money is pretty darn easy now thanks to online banking, but one thing that could be a little harder to remember would be those pesky bank account numbers. So many numbers.... Ugh...
That's all set to change though if you're an iPhone user with a Hong Leong Bank account thanks to a nifty new mobile app called Hong Leong Connect.
The iPhone app, which was recently launched in KL, features rudimentary services such as quick access to your online banking page, location-based services which can tell you things like where the nearest

HLB ATM can be found, and a new social banking feature called PEx.
Short for Payment Express, PEx allows you to easily transfer money to your friends without having to ask for their bank account number. All you need to do is to key in their mobile number and amount that you wish to transfer, regardless what bank account the recipient uses.
On the recipient's end, they will receive an SMS with a short code for redemption. With that short code, all they have to do is access the PEx redemption page on Hong Leong Connect (www.hongleongconnect.my), key in their phone number, amount, bank, bank account number and short code, and the money will be transferred.

Since this is a relatively new service, HLB is offering this service to its customers for free from now till 30 November 2011.
To find out more about HLB's new online offerings, hit up the Hong Leong Connect website at www.hongleongconnect.my.
